The Salvation Army continues to increase support presence for those who have been displaced from their homes due to the B.C. wildfires.

Community Emergency Response Units and Teams are onsite at six locations offering feeding services.

So far, more than 80,000 meals, snacks, beverages and personal care items have been provided.
 

Additional team members are in place offering feeding services in Prince George and Quesnel and are onsite at nine emergency centres offering support to more than 1,200 individuals.

“The longer that families are displaced from their homes, the more distressing these days can be,” said Deb Lowell of The Salvation Army. “We are here to offer hope, encouragement and practical support.”

In an effort to meet the ongoing need, The Salvation Army has six vehicles on standby in B.C. with an additional two in Alberta ready to offer additional assistance or support.

Prince George

The Salvation Army EDS feeding evacuees and volunteers at College of New Caledonia. Salvation Army personnel assisting with Meet and Greet and Emotional and Spiritual Support at the College of New Caledonia and at UNBC. Over 1600 meals served daily as well as 3000 snacks.

Kamloops

Community Response Unit is on site and feeding up to 600 evacuees at the Sandman Centre. A second CRT #4 crew on site to offer further feeding assistance. Team offering Meet and Greet and Emotional and Spiritual Care at Reception Centre.
 

Quesnel

CRU #14 and CRU #9 now on standby for re-deployment. Salvation Army personnel continuing to offer Emotional and Spiritual Support at ESS Centre. Some Evacuees return home though Evacuation Alert remains.

Kelowna

The Salvation Army Community Church set up as Reception Centre and Group Lodging Facility for evacuees located at 1480 Sutherland Ave. Continuing to providing approx. 450 meals, snacks and beverages daily in addition to Emotional and Spiritual Support to those in need of assistance. CRU# 12

Merritt

Salvation Army personnel providing Meet and Greet services at Group Lodging Facility. CRU # 5 deployed to offer Feeding assistance. Approx. 200 meals, snacks and beverages provided.
 

Vernon

Salvation Army personnel onsite with CRU #10 at Group Lodging Facility providing approx. 150 meals and snacks daily in addition to Meet and Greet Services and Emotional and Spiritual Care.

Surrey

Salvation Army CRU # 8 onsite and feeding potential of 500 evacuees in Surrey. Emotional and Spiritual Care being provided.

Penticton

The Salvation Army providing Feeding and Meet and Greet Services at the Penticton Reception Centre.
