Absolutely, the name — Pig Out — is what first grabs you.

The slang for behaving like an oinker and gorging yourself with food and drink is catchy.

But, you don't have to be a swine to attend the Pig Out Festival — the signature food and wine celebration of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country.

You can attend with moderation in mind to nosh on pork-centric barbecue and sip wine from Oliver and Osoyoos wineries.

The marquee event of the Pig Out Festival is Saturday's squeal-worthy 'Let's Feast' outdoor barbecue party from 12:45 pm to 5 pm.

It's at Cellar Door & More with vineyard views at 7857 Tucelnuit Dr. just north of Oliver.

Nine chefs and eight butchers will be manning barbecues to grill up all sorts of meats, but primarly pork in keeping with the Pig Out name.

Attendees can wander around getting bites from each barbecue station and pair them with wines that will be poured by Oliver and Osoyoos wineries.

In addition to the eats and drinks, there's also cooking demonstrations, live music and an artisan market.

Pig Out Festival kicks off on Friday night with the Chef Dinner at Sweetgrass Restaurant at Nk'Mip Winery in Osoyoos.

Sweetgrass chef Shawn Cheer is welcoming guest chef Javier Blanc from Vancouver's Casa Molina and Canadian Butcher team member Ronnie Keely and BC's inaugural 'best butcher' winner Michael Harris.

Together they'll serve a locally-sourced, multi-course, family-style dinner matched with wines from Oliver and Osoyoos wineries.

Diners can also take in the live cooking and butchery demonstrations — all with more vineyard views.
