  • Warriors acquire former QMJHL player from McGill University

Alexandre Lallier will be putting his post-secondary education on hold and heading west.

The 20-year-old winger has been acquired by the West Kelowna Warriors, which puts an end to his first U SPORTS season at McGill University.

Before heading to school this fall, Lallier played three seasons with the QMJHL’s Acadie-Bathurst Titan, registering 32 goals and 92 points in 178 regular season games.

The Blainville, Que., native is expected to join the Warriors lineup for back-to-back games this weekend, as they’ll take on the Vipers in Vernon on Friday before returning home to face the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday.

In a corresponding move, Ian Alonso has been placed on long-term injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 29.

West Kelowna is currently second in the BCHL standings with 42 points, but boast the league’s best winning percentage thanks to having played three less games than the first place Cowichan Valley Capitals.

The Warriors are four points up on the Trail Smoke Eaters for first in the Interior West division and will finish up the first half of the regular season with their two games this weekend.
