Officers are recommending a Victoria woman remain in custody pending a mental health evaluation after arresting her for a series of incidents on Wednesday night.
At around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, officers were called to the 1100 block of Wharf Street for the report of a woman brandishing a knife at a man.
Police were able to locate the victim who was uninjured by emotionally shaken.
The woman was reportedly throwing traffic cones into the roadway and in front of vehicles.
After a near miss, the man asked her to stop. That is when she brandished a knife and closed in on him.
The man fled and called police.
According to the man, he did not know the woman.
Officers later located the woman nearby and took her into custody. During the investigation, officers recovered a knife and learned that the woman was involved in a mischief at a business on the 500 block of Yates Street that resulted in damage to the business.
The woman was held in custody and is facing recommended charges of assault with a weapon and mischief.
Officers are also recommending the women be held pending a mental health evaluation.
