The West Kelowna Warriors roster is made up of high-level hockey players, but how will they fare when they don’t have blades?

You can find out next weekend when the team takes on the Kelowna Ringette Association’s 18-and-over all-star team in the annual Battle of the Blades.

The charity event sees the Warriors ditch their stick blades and trade pucks for rings as they try their luck at ringette.

It started as an annual friendly game, but was turned into a full on charity even three years ago by Grace Dixon, the Warriors’ community liaison.

The game, which will be played at 3 pm on Sunday, Feb. 16 at Royal LePage Place, will cost $5 to attend and all the proceeds will be donated to Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.

It’s a special cause for the Warriors because it’s where superfan Brendan Ritchie is undergoing treatment for Pulmonary Hypertension.
