The West Kelowna Warriors have locked up a player who should bring some scoring punch to the team’s lineup next season.

Marcus Joughin, 18, has committed to join the club for the 2020-21 season, which will be his only BCHL season before he heads off to Sacred Heart University the following year.

The Tecumseh, Ont. native is currently leading New England Prep Hockey with 12 goals and 44 assists in just 24 games played.

“Marcus is a player with the potent combination of high skill and high level of compete,” said Simon Ferguson, Warriors head coach. 

“His vision and passing are elite, and he has worked very hard to become a 200-foot player.”

The 5’11”, 175 lbs had plenty of options on where he was going to play next season, but made the decision to travel across the continent to join the Warriors.

“I chose a team like West Kelowna because I’ve heard nothing but great things about the city,” Joughin explained.

“What sticks out to me in regards to the BCHL as an elite junior hockey league is that it’s highly offensive speed and skill league. I think it tailors to my game very well.”

The current group of Warriors dropped a 3-1 affair to the Prince George Spruce Kings this weekend and return to action against the Smoke Eaters in Trail on Friday.
