  • Warriors cap off island road trip with shutout win over Bulldogs

After two difficult losses where the West Kelowna Warriors gave up late goals, the team had to feel good on the ferry back to the mainland after Thursday night’s performance.

Johnny Derrick led the way with 25 saves as the Warriors shut out the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 3-0 at Weyerhaeuser Arena.

Despite playing their third game in three nights, it didn’t take long for the Warriors to get on the board on Thursday.

Tyler Cristall buried his 14th of the season just over a minute into the game and Levi Stauber double West Kelowna’s lead before the midway mark of the opening frame.

In the second period, former Kelowna Rocket Deegan Mofford extended the lead to 3-0 with his ninth goal in just his 20th BCHL game.

That’s the way the scoreboard would stay for the final 35 minutes of play and the Warriors would leave the island with a respectable three of six points.

Next up is a Saturday night home game against the Prince George Spruce Kings, who sit just one point ahead of the Warriors in the BCHL standings.
