  • Warriors blow out Wild to even up playoff series

It sure makes the four-and-a-half four bus trip home a lot sweeter.

After losing a close game one to the Wenatchee Wild on Saturday, the West Kelowna Warriors came back strong with a 5-1 victory in game two on Sunday.

It was all Warriors all night long, starting with a breakaway goal from captain Cavin Tilsley just 56 seconds into the hockey game.

Lucas Cullen would score his second goal in as many nights with just over four minutes to go in the opening frame, giving the Warriors a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The second period was all about Chase Dubois, as the 20-year-old scored a pair of goals to double West Kelowna’s lead.

Wenatchee finally got on the board in the third period, but that’s as much damage as the Wild would do on the night.

Cullen potted another goal, his second of the game, to restore the Warriors’ four goal lead and give the team a 5-1 win in game two.

Wenatchee outshot West Kelowna 33-23, but Connor Hopkins was impressive in the West Kelowna goal making 32 saves for the victory.

The series now shifts back to the Okanagan for games three, four and five at Royal LePage Place.

That starts with game three on Tuesday night, which you can still snag tickets for on the Warriors’ website.
