  • VIDEO: Jillian Harris reveals renovation video of Kelowna’s Mamas for Mamas

Jillian Harris has just posted a video to show all the hard work and community involvement that went into creating the beautiful Mamas for Mamas space six months ago.

Grab a glass of wine and a tissue, you may need it to watch the video.

Mamas for Mamas is a local non-profit charitable organization that aims at supporting mothers in crisis. It provides support to low-income parents and their kids to ensure that no one is left behind due to their economic, social or emotional poverty.

When Harris discovered Mamas for Mamas, she was instantly inclined to help out her fellow mamas.

What started as a clothing swap has now turned into so much more due to Harris and the help of 85 companies from around the Okanagan.

“It’s more than just providing basic needs,” says Harris in her video.

Mamas for Mamas not only provides basic needs, it also provides a safe and stigma-free environment that encourages mothers and their babies to be the best versions of themselves.

It takes into account that not everyone may have the support they need, and Mamas for Mamas is there to bridge that gap.

In order to help this organization thrive, Harris, along with 85 companies, donated their time and efforts to renovate a positive and successful space that could drastically improve the lives of many.

From drywall and painting to the hanging of photos, Harris and her team did it all.

The renovation provided the space with a kids clothing department, kids supplies department, adult section, donation sorting and overflow space, kids zone, reception, office space, bathrooms and a beautiful creative boardroom.

Not only were supplies and time donated, baby and adult items were also gifted.

Everything in the 4,800 square foot building, from the renovations to the donations, is valued at $209,000.

Harris and her team also hosted a brunch to raise money for the renovations, and because of this Mamas for Mamas was able to receive $71,187.

“I don’t know how I could ever thank all of you enough for the insane amount of work that went into this,” said Shannon Christensen, Founder and Executive Director of Mamas for Mamas.

    “This changes everything.”
