It was in 1990 that Sundan Sangyera decided to branch out from the apple growing he had grown used to.

He leased a piece of property on Rutland road because he figured it would be perfect for strawberries.

28-years-later, Bilga Farms is a fixture in the neighbourhood with many customers returning every year. This year's harvest is now underway. Things will wrap-up with a brief u-pick opportunity in about a month.

The berries are not very large this year, but they're plentiful and packed with flavour. Sangyera's grandson Sajan gave us a video interview.
