When traffic comes to a standstill on the WR Bennett Bridge, drivers tend to suggest a second crossing of Okanagan Lake can't come soon enough.

But by the time all the necessary connections would be built, and a second bridge in place, the price tag would likely be in the neighbourhood of $1Billion.
A second bridge would also mean a lot of disturbance along whatever right-of-way is chosen. In addition, it would be a less direct route to the destination of most drivers.

City of Kelowna Transportation Manager Rafael Villereal pointed out a second bridge would be a Provincial responsibility, but any option comes with a very high cost and a lot of downsides.
