After a debut last year, the NowMedia Group will present Level Up 2020 in October, but before that, there are a series of mini-events leading up to it. NowMedia Operations Manager, Karen Montgomery, said the first one all about the future of HR and recruiting. 

Keynote speaker Eric Termuende is a thought leader on the topic. Montgomery said his message is that companies need to define their own culture first. "A question that comes up is 'How do I please everyone?'," said Montgomery. "He really focuses on creating that framework and then how do you get the best people to fit in."

It's not about pleasing everyone, Montgomery added. "It sounds really harsh, but for an organization to flourish and to grow, you need to stick to that core value."

Termuende also believes prospects should be given the chance to meet their potential co-workers and get a chance to decide for themselves if it's a place for them. "Sit down, go through what a day-to-day schedule would look like, talk about the hours, talk about the project management," explained Montgomery. "Then maybe you have a decision where either, 'this isn't going to work for me' or 'hell yeah, I'm on board!'"

The Level Up Speaker Series: Future of HR & Recruiting event is Wednesday, February 19th, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Trinity Church in Kelowna. Seating is limited to 300 people.
