Victoria police are currently investigating a report of an alleged stalking and sexual assault involving a 12-year-old female victim.

The incident occurred just after noon on Feb. 18, at the Bay Centre.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

According to police, the suspect appeared to have followed two girls into the Bay Centre, once they were alone the suspect physically and sexually assaulted one of the girls.

The suspect then fled the Bay Centre and was last seen on foot headed north on Douglas Street.

The man was seen changing his appearance as he fled.

He is described as a Caucasian or Aboriginal 40-year-old man. He is of average height with a medium build and displayed short facial hair.

During the time of the incident, he was wearing glasses, a camouflage toque, a grey hat, dark hoodie, a black winter jacket and jeans.
