Victoria police continue to investigate the death of a man involving a garbage truck.

This morning around 6 a.m. police were called to the 1300 block of Vancouver Street. Upon arrival, police identified a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Police remained on scene until paramedics arrived.

It is believed that the man was in the box area of the garbage truck when he was injured and may have been in a dumpster that was picked up by the truck.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the truck has not suffered any injuries but is being offered support.

The investigation is ongoing.
