The B.C.’s Top Employers competition has recognized UNBC for the many benefits and professional development programs that it offers.

This includes the offer of tuition waivers for most employees, spouses and eligible dependents, topping up salaries for new parents taking a leave, as well as offering discounted rates for employees at the Charles Jago Northern Sports Centre at the campus.

“The dedicated faculty and staff at UNBC demonstrate a shared commitment to fostering a positive, productive and respectful workplace,” says UNBC President Dr. Daniel Weeks.

“Recognition such as this encourages us to continue this type work and helps us to recruit, retain and develop outstanding faculty and staff.”

Judges take into consideration everything from physical workplace, the employment atmosphere, financial, family and health benefits, vacation and time off, employee communications, performance management, training and development and community involvement.

Employers were also compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.

UNBC first made the list in 2012 and has since been ranked among the top employers in B.C. in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
