On June 7, over 100 runners and walkers came out to take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics B.C.

The run was hosted by the City of Prince George RCMP.

This fun event was a way to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes within the province and Prince Georg area.

The 3.5 km walk and run was made up of staff and family from various public safety agencies including the B.C. Sheriffs Service, Prince George Fire / Rescue and the Prince George Detachment of the RCMP. 

Special Olympic coaches, athletes and loved ones also participated!

After the run, RCMP hosted a public BBQ. During the gathering, 50/50 raffle tickets were drawn and the winner took home over $700!

Over $3,600 was raised between the Torch Run and the detachment car wash in May.

All of the money raised will be donated to Special Olympics B.C.

“The Prince George Detachment is once again honored to host the Law Enforcement Torch Run in our community,” says Supt. Warren Brown, Officer in Charge of the Prince George RCMP.

“The public support has been overwhelming and the appreciation of the athletes makes all the efforts worthwhile.”
