  • Time to get wild at the 17th annual Allan Brooks Nature Centre fundraiser

    The Allan Brooks Nature Centre’s Wine and Wild Things Fundraiser is coming to Vernon on June 23.

    This 17th annual fundraiser is all in support of promoting an appreciation for nature as well as an increased awareness through the environmental education provided by Allan Brooks Nature Centre.

    Wine and Wild Things has come back to nature with a new venue at Lone Pine Ranch and Events Centre.

    “We are thrilled with the new location,” Says Vicki Proulx, Events and Communications Coordinator at ABNC.

    “Lone Pine Ranch offers us a spectacular outdoor space allowing guests to have a true hands-on nature experience.”

    This year’s event will have some familiar faces including live birds of prey with The Raptors and The Bug Guys with their reptiles.

    Members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada will also be on site with telescopes for deep sky viewing.

    Attendees will be able to indulge in the delicious appetizers provided by Gumtree Catering!

    Be sure to save some room!

    Terroir Cheese and Karate Chocolate will be proving you with sweet and savoury desserts.

    To cap off the evening, Rob Dinwoodies will be playing live music by the campfire.

    “We’re having a lot of fun connecting kids, and the kid in each of us, with nature in the Okanagan. This important fundraiser helps support our continued delivery of youth and family-focused nature educational programming,” says Allan Brooks Executive Director Aaron Deans.

    “We are also aiming to raise funds to construct aviaries on-site at Allan Brooks to enhance public’s access and close up experience with raptors right here in Vernon.”

    Tickets will go on sale Monday at 9 a.m. on the ABNC website.
