  • Tij Iginla named WHL Player of the Month for November

Tij Iginla was the best of the west in November.

The 19-year-old Utah Mammoth draft pick has been a dominant force for the Kelowna Rockets since being returned to junior by his NHL club in mid-October.

He filled up the scoresheet in November and today was named the WHL Player of the Month as a result.

In 13 games last month, Iginla scored 11 goals and added 13 helpers for a total of 24 points.

And it should come as no surprise that his return has completely changed the Rockets’ fortunes after some early-season struggles, as Kelowna went 8-3-2 in November.

The WHL Goalie of the Month was San Jose Sharks draft pick Joshua Ravensbergen, who won eight games for the Prince George Cougar while posting a 2.00 GAA and .940 save percentage.

Rockets goalie Harrison Boettiger was surely in the conversation for that award though, as the draft eligible 17-year-old was a perfect 6-0-0-0 in November with a 1.67 GAA and .945 save percentage.

Boettiger, who turns 18 on Dec. 11, leads the WHL with a .926 save percentage and is second with a 2.24 GAA in 11 appearances so far this season.
