Last week, the 2020 BC assessments became available and it highlighted some of the most valuable properties in the province.
Three stand above the rest, however, with evaluations north of $50 million.
A pair of them, as you might expect, are mansions in two of Vancouver’s richest neighbourhoods, but the other is nowhere close to British Columbia’s biggest city.
In fact, it’s not even a residence, it’s James Island, a 780-acre private island located near Sidney.
Here’s a quick look at all three of BC’s highest-valued properties:
-
3085 Point Grey Rd. in Vancouver ($64,948,000)
This extravagant home in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood belongs to Lululemon founder Chip Wilson. Although it’s value has plummeted nearly $15 million in the past two years, it’s still BC’s most expensive property according to BC Assessment. The seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom home was built in 2008 and is over 15,000 square-feet in size.
-
4707 Belmont Ave. in Vancouver ($58,728,000)
Located a few kilometres west of Wilson’s home is this massive home, which was built just a year earlier in 2007. It has 10 bedrooms and a seemingly unnecessary 17 bathrooms, but you have to fill the space with something when your home is approaching 30,000 square feet.
-
James Island (56,747,000)
James Island is a 78-acre private island that’s not too far from where you’d dock if you were taking a ferry to Victoria. It was purchased by Craig McCaw for $19 million in 1994 and has only skyrocketed in value since then. It has an 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Niklaus, a 5,000-square-foot main house, guest cottages, a private airstrip and more.
