This is some breaking news!

  • The temperature could dip to -20°C in Kelowna early next week

This week has been all about snow, but the temperature has remained around 0°C, or even higher than that.

Next week, it’ll be a totally different story.

The temperatures are expected to plummet at the end of the weekend, leading to a very cold start to the work week.

How cold depends on who you ask, as Environment Canada calls for highs around -10°C and lows closer to -20°C at night.

Accuweather, on the other hand, calls for a high of -17°C or low of -30°C on Monday, while Tuesday is expected to float around -24°C.

However, NowMedia likes to put our trust in our very own meteorologist, Wesla English, who has called the Okanagan Valley home for years.

She told us that “next week does look really, really cold” and that -20°C was possible, likely on Tuesday.”

As always, she’s hesitant to be too confident in a forecast beyond three days in the future, but says “signs point to very cold Arctic air pushing in.”

According to English, even the Lower Mainland is expecting snow next week and we all know how rare that is.

Whether it gets to -10°C, -20°C or -30°C, it’s going to be cold either way in the Okanagan next week, so make sure you’re ready for it.

We’ll have more accurate details on next week’s forecast over the weekend.
