Usually, when big name bands announce an arena show, it’s done months in advance.

That certainly isn’t the case for The Strokes, who just today revealed a pair of Pacific Northwest shows that are between five and six weeks away.

They’ll be playing at Rogers Arena on Thursday, March 5, before following it up with a show at the WaMu Theatre in Seattle on Monday, March 9.

These two shows were the only new tour dates announced by the band on Facebook, although guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. also posted that the band would be playing in Los Angeles on March 14.

However, Hammond Jr. said in a tweet this was “the beginning of the madness,” hinting at the fact that more tour dates were likely to follow.

Fans are already excited about the band’s new album, their first since 2013, which frontman Julian Casaclancas promised would be coming in 2020.

This initial tour announcement adds to that excitement, especially for BC and Washington State fans, who know they’ll be getting a show from The Strokes, and quite soon.

For the two Pacific Northwest shows, Alvvays will serve as The Strokes opening act.

Tickets go on sale on Jan. 31.
