The Prince George will be hosting their annual Festival of Trees at the Civic Centre. The event will run from November 24th at 5 p.m. to December 3rd at 4 p.m.

This 10 day fundraiser is designed to kick-start the Christmas season. The Civic Centre will be transformed to display embellished trees, beautiful decorations, and entertainment for all ages.

The theme for this year is “Merry and Bright.”

"We are excited to once again to open the doors to a winter wonderland showcasing so many talented individuals' work," Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation CEO, Judy Neiser said.

The Festival of Trees is now the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. All proceeds support equipment and enhancements to healthcare in the region.

Last year the auction raised over $225,000.

This year there will be a “fund-an-item” edition which raises money for a tomosynthesis machine. The machine will be given to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. to assist in breast health imaging.

"Breast cancer is something that few of us go through life without being touched by someone who has encountered a scare or positive diagnosis," Neiser said. "We want to see that the centre here has the most up to date equipment available so that it truly is a one-stop breast health imaging clinic."

There will be many other events scheduled during the 10-day long festival including a fashion show, family day, Santa breakfast, and even a Teddy Bear breakfast.
