It’s not a good day to be driving on B.C.’s mountain passes.

As wet snow starts to fall lightly at lower elevations, it’s coming down quite a bit harder 1,500 metres above sea level.

That’s resulted in less than ideal driving conditions on both Hwy 5 (the Coquihalla) and Hwy 97C (the Connector).

No travel advisories are in effect, but webcam images show snowy roads and near whiteout conditions at the summit of both the Coquihalla and the Connector.

NowMedia meteorologist, Wesla English, believes the summits could see around 15 centimetres of snow over the course of the day, with more being possible for the Coquihalla.

Currently, an alternate speed limit of 90 km/h is posted for the Coquihalla.
