This series is sponsored by TD Benefits, a Kelowna-based company that specializes in employee group benefits and life insurance solutions for businesses in the Okanagan.
In the second episode of the new series with Lyndon Dyas of TD Benefits, host Jim Csek and Dyas discussed what the process looks like for businesses wanting to establish benefit plans, as well as the eventual step of renewing the plans.
When a business reaches out to TD Benefits, the first step for Lyndon Dyas is to gather information about the company and learn what’s important to them.
With that information, Dyas and his team get to work, reaching out and finding plans that will best suit their client's needs.
“Ultimately, once we’re presenting a couple of options, they’re in the driver’s seat, which is a beautiful thing,” he explained.
“They’re tailoring this plan and they’re able to implement it.”
Dyas and Csek then discussed the importance of benefit plans to employees and how they can be used to retain valuable staff, as well as attract new talent.
Once a plan is implemented, another important step that will eventually arise when dealing with benefit carriers is renewals.
“Whether a business is starting a benefit plan for the first time or they’ve had one installed with their organization for many years, having those discussions and hopefully knowing that they understand how renewals work… it’s critically important,” added Dyas.
Dyas explained that renewals are not only about finding a competitive rate but also ensuring that the carrier is offering stability and a positive experience for clients, such as how hard is it for an employee to submit a claim or does the provider has a mobile app for smartphones.
After speaking more on the process of renewals, Dyas shared details about the group plan TD Benefits operates for members of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce.
