Surrey police are asking for the communities help in locating a man who escaped from police while at the hospital.

On December 28th, Surry RCMP arrested 46-year old Richard Mantler for several property and related offences.

Prior to being jailed, Mantler was taken to the local hospital for treatment. While at the hospital, Mantler was under police supervision but still managed to escape through an emergency exit while handcuffed.

Officers and accompanying Police Dog Services were unable to locate Mantler.

Mantler is now wanted for escape from lawful custody.

Police describe Mantler as a Caucasian male, six feet, and 216 pounds. He has short brown hair and hazel eyes.

At the time, Mantler was wearing a white Adidas t-shirt with a red logo, blue jeans, and black shoes.

According to the police, Mantler is not a risk to the public.
