Breaking News:

This is some breaking news!

  • Sunday Social Connection: @butterfieldyoga

My name is Miranda Butterfield and I’m a wife, mother, yoga instructor and essential oil enthusiast.  My family and I moved to Prince George a few months ago from Alberta and now we are starting to settle in and create an adventure filled life in PG!

    Why do you use Instagram?

When we moved here we didn’t know anyone. I started the Instagram account as a way to find other yoga lovers in Prince George as well as a way to promote my business once I start offering services (fingers crossed I should be ready to go by June 15!)

What will people see on your feed?

My feed is mostly me doing yoga (sometimes my kids are in there too) along with a write up about the different health benefits associated with each asana (yoga pose) or mudra (hand gesture) that I am doing.

Does your page have a specific style?

Yes. My page is all about sharing the health benefits of yoga. So many people do yoga and love it. They know it makes them feel good, but are not sure why. So, I like to share with my followers why it makes them feel good. My page can also be referenced by my followers when they are looking to find what asanas or mudras to try when they have a certain ailment, injury or goal in mind. For example, do you have a headache? Stomach ache? Lower back pain? Check out my page and you will find some ideas in there on what asanas to use to help relieve it.

    Favorite Instagram accounts to follow?

Oh, there are so many to choose from!  I think my favourite would be @worldsgreatesttravelsites. He travels to some very well known places as well as some “off the beaten path” places and his pictures are so beautiful and inspiring.

I also love @capricious_fitness and @Yoga_girl as they both have big hearts and are so grounded and real about their fitness and life while being very inspirational.

@Whiskersandyoga is also a great one!  Especially if you love animals.

How do you decide on your location for shoots?

Honestly, it’s all about beauty and convenience. I have two little ones so I mainly take pictures around my home while my kids are playing in the yard. We live in a beautiful area so it’s easy to find some great backdrops.  As I explore more of the area in and around Prince George I look forward to finding new stunning backgrounds to add to my page.

    Biggest Instagram moment?

Honestly, this! I only started this account a few months ago when we moved here and I’d say this is going to be a wonderful way to get my name out to the Prince George population!

    Favorite hashtags?

#yogaeverywhere  This just goes to show that yoga doesn’t need to be done in a studio with yoga pants on.  Bring it with you into your everyday life, wherever you are.

#yogawithkids  Sometimes they are lovely and want to follow along, but sometimes they get right in the way of whatever is happening making for some cute and funny pictures! Either way, I love seeing pictures of kids doing yoga and parents bringing their kids into their practice with them.  It warms my heart.

    Why do you follow PrinceGeorgeNow?

To find out what is happening around town! Being new to the area and not knowing many people around here, I’ve had to lean on social media a lot to stay in the know!
