Cache Creek can’t seem to catch a break in recent years.

Once again, flooding has become an issue this spring and Mayor Santo Talarico has declared a state of local emergency.

The rising Bonaparte River “poses an existing or imminent threat to people and property” near the river, says the state of local emergency order.
 

“This flooding emergency requires prompt coordination of action or special regulation of persons or property to protect health, safety or welfare of people or to limit damage to property.”

An evacuation alert is now in effect for all areas adjacent to the river or any areas that are at risk of losing their only access route due to potential flooding.

The evacuation alert release says that residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, but there may only be limited notice due to changing conditions.
