Starbucks Canada is hoping to open as many of its stores as possible by the end of May, but it won’t be an easy task.
The coffee chain says it’s taken plenty of lessons from the stores that have remained open for drive thru, delivery or pickup service and will be looking to roll that out more broadly.
Those stores will continue to do what they’re doing and over the next month, Starbucks Canada will monitor and adjust operations, making decisions to open more stores or expand services on a community-to-community basis.

The company identified a number of precautionary measures that would be put in place for stores that do reopen in the coming weeks.
Facial coverings, wellness checks and extra cleaning protocols and precautions are all included in that, as well as plexi-shields that you’ve likely already seen in grocery stories and liquor stores.
Starbucks Canada says it’s currently sourcing plexi-shields to be installed at the point of sale that will be ready for when stores reopen.

All Starbucks partners will attend two blocks of training over two days to reconnect on safety and operational changes.
“A lot has changed over the last six weeks,” said company president Lori Digulla in a letter to all partners.
“As we enter this new phase, we know that we can evolve how we serve our customers as restrictions begin to lift and we are ready to continue to be fluid in how we serve our communities.”
The chain will continue paying partners catastrophe pay through June 14.
