  • Stankoven and Garand invited to Canada’s World Junior camp

Kamloops Blazers fans could be watching a pair of the team’s brightest young stars wearing the maple leaf over the holiday season.

Both Logan Stankoven and Dylan Garand have been invited to participate in Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp.

It will take place in Calgary from Dec. 9-12 and help the coaching staff decide who will represent the country at this year’s World Junior Championships in Alberta.

Stankoven, a second-round pick of the Dallas Stars this past summer, is currently fifth in WHL scoring with 12 goals and 29 points in just 19 games.

He’ll be competing with 20 other forwards for a spot on the roster, but Garand won’t need to compete for a spot as Hockey Canada has only brought three goalies to camp.

Garand, a fourth-round pick of the New York Rangers in 2020, was one of Canada’s three goalies at last year’s tournament and earned a silver medal.

Canada will kick off the World Juniors against the Czech Republic at 4 pm PT on Boxing Day.
