  • Spice up your Master Bedroom with these tips!

There is one room in the house that usually is forgotten when it comes to decor, most of us are guilty of it, and yet we spend half of our life in this one room.

The master bedroom seems to gets the short end of the stick often because people don’t want to spend time and money on a place that is just for them. It is usually away from the main living space and not many people see it. I’ve come up with some simple ideas and hopefully inspiration to make the space you spend the most time in, one of you favourite places!

    .

Your bedroom should be somewhere you want to retreat to after a long day

The place where you can unwind and really just enjoy your space. Everyone knows I love my whites and a great warm white is the perfect colour to put you in a relaxed state; think spa retreat or quiet art gallery and not clinical ultra modern cool white. Try Benjamin Moore’s OC 117 Simply White or Cloud White CC 40.

    .

Adding texture to a room gives it a warmer feeling as well.  Using white bedding or a light neutral is timeless and versatile. An area carpet is always a good idea; warning-once you start buying vintage rugs you’ll be hooked!  Even if you have wall to wall carpet, you can layer it for some added dimension.

    .

When seasons change, so can your pillows

Add in some pillows with texture and colour that are easily changed with the seasons and styles.

A bench at the end of a bed is a nice touch, and if you’re worried it will be a clutter collector, try adding some baskets below to keep the clutter under control!

    .

    Lighting is key!

Metal lamps (black, gold or brass) are popular for nightstands, but if you are building or renovating, adding in sconces to keep your nightstand clear is a a great look! And for your main fixture, think outside the box, and oversized wicker pendant or a dining room brass chandelier.

    .

    .

    Plants for purity!

Another thing often forgotten is adding plants to the bedroom Plants can act as air purifiers and they give off a restful energy!

    .

You can have the master bedroom of your dreams with only a few changes!
