Breaking News:

This is some breaking news!

  • Solving the housing shortage?

Whoah boy. It’s fun to talk with Daniel. He’s been in his role for a little over three years, but he dove into the weighty issues. Housing shortage, government, DCC’s, infrastructure and who pays for what. He has an opinion. Which is refreshing from where I sit. Too many ED’s of organizations don’t use their voice to speak about issues that impact their membership. They don’t want to “ruffle the feathers.” It’s better to get along, they say.

I’m not suggesting for a moment that Daniel looks for a volatile issue and lobs a verbal grenade. No. But have an opinion that has some basis, and advocate for your community.

He brings up some very interesting thoughts regarding development costs when it comes to having multiple doors on a lot (Something I have considered as a home owner). But when you look at the costs before putting a shovel in the ground, your return on investment is too many rotations around the sun to make it an easy decision.

Again, Daniel has thought about ways around this.

Or who should pay for infrastructure – especially park maintenance? Should it be the new home owner or should this be a shared cost from the whole neighbourhood? Past politicians who created the fees can tell you the answer.

He speaks from a platform that represents builders. As he should. Some thoughts you won’t agree with. But at the very least, he shares thoughts that some day might see the light of day with policy makers.

Thanks for listening and expanding your knowledge base.

    Rick
