Anyone travelling on B.C. Interior highways on Saturday will have some snow to deal with at higher elevations.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement that calls for spring snow on four different highways.

That includes the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1), the Coquihalla Highway (Hwy 5), the Okanagan Connector (Hwy 97C) and Hwy 3.

“A Pacific frontal system will move across southern B.C. on Saturday,” explains the alert from Environment Canada.

“Snow will develop over the highway passes beginning early in the morning. Initially, snow levels will be near 800 metres and gradually rise to 1200 metres that afternoon.”

Both the Coquihalla summit and Kootenay Pass will see 10-15 centimetres on Saturday afternoon, with an additional 5-10 cm possible in the evening.

Those will be the worst hit areas, as the other summits will see totals closer to 5 cm.
