Environment Canada has extended its Smoky Skies Bulletin into Friday.

The high for Friday is 30 degrees Celsius.

Expect today's widespread smoke to roll into Saturday, according to Environment Canada.

Environment Canada issued a special air quality statement on Friday morning for the North, Central and South Okanagan.

This Smoky Skies Bulletin began on August 2nd.

Again, conditions will vary based on wind, fire behaviour and changes in temperature.

Friday afternoon will see a bit of a breeze with northerly winds gusting up to 20 km/h.

Below is a satellite smoke forecast by Environment Canada. It's a fairly new system that EC is monitoring, but is expected to show where the smoke is coming from, its severity and how long it plans to stay (notice the running clock).

This BlueSky Canada smoke forecast is considered experimental because it is produced by a system that is an ongoing research project and subject to uncertainties in weather forecasts, smoke dispersion and fire emissions. For example, the system uses satellite detections to locate fires.

Avoid strenuous outdoor activities. If you have difficulty breathing, chest pains or throat irritation, talk to your health care provider.

In this widespread smoke, take extra caution with seniors and infants.
