Breaking News:

This is some breaking news!

  • School is out. Storage is in.

Until further notice, a lot of students are about to return home.

In times like these, wouldn't it be nice to skip moving and packing and instead just jump right into home comfort?

For students and anyone who has to move off-campus and back home for the foreseeable future, chances are you're cringing at the thought of hauling your belongings with you.

Luckily, there is a simple, secure, and smart option for college and university students – storage containers.

With Secure-Rite, students who need to move and need a place to store their belongings can rent a storage container near campus.

Students will save time packing and shipping their items back and forth, making for a less stressful move and return.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed and are about to return home for the time being, here are some of the most common questions Secure-Rite receives from students about storage and moving.

    What do I leave behind?

Pack any belongings you know you won't need first. This short list will give you an idea about what to pack away and leave behind in a storage container for the summer:

    • Seasonal items – heading into summer, you don't need those heavy winter jackets, boots, ski equipment, and heavier clothing.

    • Bedding

    • Textbooks and other supplies

    • Kitchen utensils and small appliances

    • Sofas, mattresses, desks, or home décor items

What storage container size is ideal for students?

If you've been living in a campus dorm room and you will not need to store your furniture, you'll want to consider renting an 8-foot storage container:

If you've been living in a small apartment off-campus and will need to store furniture, you'll want to consider renting a 10-foot storage container:

What's the best way to prepare for packing my storage container?

    •  Wash everything before you pack it in – clothing, bedding, dishes or small appliances. You'll want to consider having your mattress cleaned before wrap it.
    • Roll your clothing up instead of folding to save space

    • Use Ziploc baggies to keep small parts, cords, or screws with the item they go with. Remove table and sofa legs (if possible) and store the screws in a labelled Ziploc baggie.

    • Tape the cords of any small appliances to the back so they don't tangle or get caught on other things inside the storage container.

    • Remove light bulbs from lamps

    • Use bubble wrap around breakable items before you place them in a box

How simple is it to get access to my things when I return in the fall?

It's as simple as it gets – give Secure-Rite a call and they can provide access to your storage container within 24 hours.
