The province of B.C. has declared a state of emergency and The Salvation Army is doing what it can to help.

The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services have been mobilized to support first responders and evacuees in multiple locations across the province.
 

In the coming days, the Salvation Army will be on the ground providing food, water bottles, blankets, temporary shelter and emotional support to those affected by the crisis.

As of Tuesday, 14,000 meals and snacks have been provided with evacuee numbers increasing hourly.

Four of The Salvation Army’s Emergency Community Response Units have been dispatched so far and two remain on standby.

These mobile canteen units are equipped with a stove, fridge and grills to serve on location and can quickly relocate should circumstances change.
 

“We are uniquely positioned to respond quickly in times of urgent need like this,” said Deb Lowell of The Salvation Army. “It is our mission to offer hope and practical support in the midst of devastating circumstances.”

The Salvation Army is appealing to the public for urgently needed funds that will be used to assist families immediately and rebuild people’s lives for weeks to come.
