On Saturday, December 16th, a collision between a cyclist and a pickup truck took place at around 1:35 p.m.
The accident happened near the intersection of Broden Street and McKenzie Avenue in Saanich.

The cyclist was admitted into the hospital where injuries could be observed and treated.
The Saanich Police are still investigating the cause of the collision. There is no evidence to suggest that the presence of the cycling lanes were an aggravating or a mitigating factor.
In this case, the cyclist was wearing a helmet. Saanich Police would like to take this time to remind all cyclists to wear proper protective gear at all times.
