It may have taken an extra nine minutes into overtime, but the Kelowna Rockets prevailed over the Surrey Falcons 3-2 to capture the BC Provincial Peewee Female A crown in Trail.

In the gold medal game, the Rockets trailed 1-0 after the 1st period then bounced back to take the lead 2-1 late into the third only to have Surrey tie it up with 30 seconds to go in regulation. 

Goaltender Reese Sliskovic was spectacular throughout the game making numerous key saves to keep the game close, allowing the Rockets to prevail on the golden goal from a Karington Mollin slapshot.

Round robin play had the Rockets starting off with a convincing 10-0 victory versus the South Island Royals followed by their only regulation loss this season versus the Surrey Falcons 6-5 the next day.

The girls regrouped nicely with a 6-0 victory this time at the hands of a hard working Prince George team then followed it up later that day playing the host West Kootenay Wildcats team and posting a 9-1 win.

That set the stage the following morning for a win and a scenario versus a hungry team from North Shore where, again, the Rockets came out flying and booked their ticket in the gold medal game with a 4-2 victory.

The team was able to get revenge on the Falcons for their early tournament loss and come out victorious through team first mentality, relentless forechecking, timely defensive plays and lights out goaltending.
