It does not look like it will be a fun night of trick-or-treating for parents in the Lower Mainland and up the south coast.

A rainfall warning is in effect for a significant portion of the region, with between 50-80 millimetres expected to fall by Saturday afternoon.

While it will surely soak Halloween costumes, Environment Canada says it will also hamper driving conditions on Hwy 3.

As a result, a rainfall warning is also in place for the route through the Manning Park area, between Hope and Princeton.

The total rainfall isn’t expected to be quite as bad that far east, but the weather agency still expects up to 50 mm for the area.

“Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas,” the weather alert warns. “Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas such as steep slopes, deforested areas or recent burn scars.”

According to Environment Canada, the weekend rainstorm is the result of a pair of frontal systems moving across the south coast.
