BC Wildfire Services are currently responding to a fire in West Cranberry Creek.

The fire, located five kilometres west of Valemount, is estimated to be 45 hectares.

Heavy equipment operators worked overnight to put machine guard around 90% of the fire.

Crews will continue establishing additional machine guard and securing the fire perimeter with water.

As of now, 21 firefighters and two heavy equipment operators are on scene.

The fire is not considered interface at this time.
