On Feb. 27, we ran a story about a BC cannabis company that was granted approval to sell cocaine.
A few days later, the company retracted part of their statement.
The Langley-based company now says that the dealer’s license approved by Health Canada does not allow them to sell coca leaf, psilocybin or cocaine to the general public.
They may only sell to other licensed dealers who have cocaine listed on their license. That would include pharmacists, practitioners, hospitals, or the holder of a section 56(1) exemption for research purposes under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Adastra Holdings Ltd got approval from the health authority on Feb. 17, 2023, after already having received its Controlled Drug and Substances Dealer’s License on August 24, 2022.
With the amended license, Adastra can legally produce up to 250 grams of cocaine in 2023.
Adastra Holdings Ltd is owned by Michael Forbes, the creator of Forbes Group, which operates a “myriad” of companies including everything from healthcare services delivery, advertising and media production, moving and storage and more. He also owns cannabis companies such as Sitka Weedworks and Clarity Cannabis.
