We recently asked our readers to answer a few questions about firearm restrictions in Canada. 

When asked if there should be more firearm restrictions, 80.62% of voters said no, 18.91% said yes, and 0.47% said unsure. 

Readers also gave their vote whether this proposed amendment unfairly targets hunters and farmers. 80.16% of voters said yes, 15.94% said no, and 3.91% said unsure. 

We were also curious to know if our readers are concerned for their safety with the current firearm restrictions. 71.72% of voters said no, 22.66% said yes, and 5.62% said unsure.

The only people that any firearms restrictions affect are the law abiding people. The criminals don't follow any rules regarding guns or firearms so why would any government spend more than 10 seconds of time on this.

This will not get rid of criminals who have illegal weapons that they get from black markets. It will harm people’s way of feeding their families especially now with the raising cost of food.

There are enough weapons that hunters and farmers can use without having to own military grade weapons.

At the moment we feel safe but gun violence seems to be escalating so there should be heavy restrictions on firearms and if hunters and farmer have their guns caught up in the bans that is a small price to pay. No one needs a high a powered gun to kill any animal.

I don't own a firearm, but this bill is an assault on legal gun owners. And nothing is been done to stop the illegal importation of weapons from the US

People kill. Guns are inanimate instruments on their own. Get the criminals off the streets and the gun issue all but goes away. Money spent on optics for political points solves nothing and burns up resources that could be used more effectively as in; employ more peace officers, challenge the bill of rights and freedoms, and penal reforms.

Criminals do not follow the restrictions.

Every firearm restriction ONLY AFFECTS LAW ABIDING OWNERS, and does NOTHING to prevent crime !

Canada has strict firearms. Rules and regulations already.  It would make more sense to go after illegal gun owners and birder gun trafficking. Legal gun owners are not a threat or recurring problem as Criminals with guns are.

The current legislative action is purely a continuation of a punitive Liberal policy  and a misguided political agenda over 50 years old. At no time does it address actual public safety issues but relies on fearmongering, lies and purposeful misinformation to support a false narrative  while securing  votes of the uninformed & ignorant.
