For this episode, Sara Gouda and Jim Csek sit down with the newly appointed executive director of the South Okanagan Women in Need Society (SOWINS) in Penticton, Danielle Goulden.
Goulden has been in the position since May, and discusses the launch of a new program that focuses on emergency sexual assault response coordination in the South Okanagan, which is the first of its kind in this region.
The new project is focused on bringing service providers to discuss the gaps in programs and services, while working on creating coordinated plans.
“One of the gaps in programs and services that our organization has identified in the South Okanagan region is a coordinated response to sexual assault, either immediate or historic disclosure of sexual assault,” explained Goulden.
This year marks SOWINS 40-year anniversary.
