Cloudy skies did their best to hamper Mother Nature’s spectacular show, but many Okanagan residents still got a great view of the Northern Lights.
Depending on where you were, and when you looked, the aurora borealis was active and bright in the northern hemisphere on Thursday night.
The show was produced by a fast coronal mass ejection that erupted from the Sun on Tuesday evening and arrived at Earth two days later.
It prompted a “severe” G4 geomagnetic storm watch from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
If you missed the Northern Lights on Thursday, the good news is that the storm watch remains in effect and you will potentially have another chance to see them this evening.
The bad news, however, is that aurora activity is not expected to be as significant in southern BC and more clouds are in the forecast.
