Parents, teachers, principals, friends and supporters all filled Prince George this weekend for another successful community autism walk.

For the past seven years individuals and volunteers with a passion to encourage people living with ASD have joined together to show their support and to raise awareness around the disorder.

The 1.5 km walk from Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park to the start of Cottonwood Trail, saw hundreds of blue clad advocates and encouragers.

Many volunteers dedicated countless hours to ensure this year’s success and local MLA, Shirley Bond was on hand to kick off the event.

Afterwards, everyone gathered for refreshments and goodies while children both on and off the spectrum, enjoyed an afternoon together at the park.

With no financial objective, the goal of the walk is to inform, understand and support.

Ensuring that everyone affected by this spectrum disorder knows that they will never have to walk this road alone.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now estimates that one in 68 children have been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
