We aren’t taught how to take responsibility in our lives as adults. We are as children though.

As a little person, we are taught that with every action there is a consequence. Usually, it’s an authority like a parent, guardian, family member, teacher, coach, or mentor.
For most of us as adults we are the authority of our lives and don’t have our parents or family members giving us consequences for skipping out of work or staying out too long on Friday night.
We have to parent ourselves. We have to take personal responsibility for our lives. This isn’t the same concept as “every action has a consequence.” This personal responsibility is about understanding that we are in complete charge of our thoughts, feelings, perceptions and emotions.

Everything changes when we operate from this place. When we really GET that our reactions to the world are our own and nobody “made us do it” the whole mental landscape of life changes. You no longer blame others, judgments fall away and you don’t let the smalls things get to you.
I recently got engaged to my guy (YEAH!) and am feeling this work is going to be super powerful to continue to dive into what it takes to be an active participant in not only my life, but my life as someone who shows up for my person in partnership.
Being with someone forever seems kind of wild to me right now, only because I don’t have a concept of forever in mind yet. I want to consciously create my future and will do that day by day and for me, that’s what matters most right now.

When I take personal responsibility for my internal work, I know that everything that is supposed to come to me will come at the right time. What would happen for you if you took personal responsibility for your internal work?
Happy Sunday,
