The Penticton Peach Festival is being recognized as a stand-out festival in North America.
The Northwest Festivals Hosting Association recently accepted the Peach Festival as one of its members.
There are 10 American members including the Seattle Seafair, the Portland Rose Festival, the Spokane Lilac Festival and the Wenatchee Apple Blossom Festival, and more.
The Peach Festival is only its second Canadian member, with the New Westminster Hyack Festival being the first.

Peachfest vice-president Rebecca Ogden was happy to hear the news.
“This will be great for Peach Festival and for Penticton,” Ogden said, in a statement. “This is a recognition that Peach Festival is considered to be one of the premiere events in the Northwest.”
The Hosting Association shares information about the festivals throughout the area, and also has other festivals join in the fun.
They expect that partner festivals will send their float, along with 30 to 40 representatives to Peachfest.
“I think we’ll see a lot of visitors from the U.S. who will take advantage of our low Canadian dollar,” Ogden continued.
American floats will join in the annual Peters Bros. Grand Parade, on August 6th.
Spokesperson Jacquie Janulis, from Portland, said they’re excited to have another great member.
“We know that Penticton is a beautiful place, we know that Peachfest is a great festival and we know that the entire community is involved in the festival,” she said in a statement.
The 69th annual Peach Festival will run from August 3rd to the 7th.
