It takes years of training to become a paramedic, but none of that training was used by an Australian ambulance crew to fulfil a patient’s dying wish.

The two Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were transporting the patient to the palliative care unit of the local hospital when it all happened.
 

The woman expressed to the pair that she just wished she could be at the beach one last time and that’s when the crew went above and beyond.

“The crew took a small diversion to the awesome beach at Hervey Bay to give the patient this opportunity,” said a Facebook post from QAS. “Tears were shed and the patient felt very happy.”

QAS is only naming the pair as Danielle and Graeme, but their work has not gone unnoticed.

The Facebook post by QAS has already been shared more than 20,000 times and it’s inspired others to share similar stories about emergency workers going above and beyond the line of duty.
