Spring may be here, but winter driving on B.C. Interior highways is still hanging around.

Snowfall that began late on Wednesday caused multiple accidents on the Okanagan Connector (Hwy 97C) and prompted a warning from the RCMP and DriveBC.

Traffic, which had slowed to bumper-to-bumper around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, is flowing once again, but conditions are challenging for drivers at the highways’ summits.

The variable speed limit on the Coquihalla has been adjusted to 90 km/h to accommodate the conditions.

Looking ahead, there’s rain in the forecast for lower elevations today, which could easily translate to more snow and fog in both mountain passes.

If you’re driving either highway today, make sure to take it slow and drive to the conditions.

With the beautiful spring weather returning on Friday, weekend travellers should have a much easier time navigating both routes.
