No, this isn’t a scene out of Super Troopers, this actually happened in Wisconsin.

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was pulled over by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department after the unique vehicle failed to pull over for not following the state’s ‘Move Over Law’.
 

“When a motorist sees a vehicle on the side of the road with its emergency lights flashing (red, blue and amber), they are required to move out of the lane closest to the vehicle if possible,” said a social media post from the WCSD. 

“If a safe lane change is not possible, or the motorist is traveling on a two-lane roadway, they are required to slow their vehicle, maintain a safe speed for traffic conditions, and drive at a reduced speed until completely past the vehicle.”

Whether it was due to the oddly-shaped vehicle’s blind spots or the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile simply thought it was above the law, it did not slow down for emergency vehicles on this occasion.

The driver was lucky, however, as the officer simply gave them a verbal warning and all parties went on their way.

This story is a good lesson for anyone else who finds themselves driving a 27-foot-long hot dog on wheels.

You should pay extra close attention to the traffic laws, because you stick out like a sore thumb.
