As months worth of improvements continue on Lakeshore Road near Gyro Beach, a notable road closure will begin this week.
Starting Monday, Lakeshore Road will shift to one-way traffic only between Richter Street and Lanfranco Road for around a month, with northbound traffic detouring via Richter Street.
“A temporary pathway will be in place in the northbound lane for pedestrians and cyclists to safely move through the construction zone,” explained a City of Kelowna release.

The closure is part of the Lakeshore Road improvement project, which will see underground water and storm systems upgraded.
On the surface, bike lanes and landscaping will be added and road improvements will be made to improve safety and travel.
According to the City, the new bike lanes will create a continuous route linking Casorso Road with the Abbott multi-use path.
The City asks residents to abide by safety personnel instructions, posted construction signage and fencing while work is underway on Lakeshore Road.
